Since 1998, Matthews Engineering (legally Matthews Contracting LTD), owned and operated by John and Dianne Matthews, has been proudly serving the local community with quality workmanship and reliable service.

Before becoming business owners, John spent many years as a contract welder, travelling across the North Island on project work. Eventually, he and Dianne decided to establish a company of their own.

They began by purchasing a stainless steel fitting manufacturing business from a local engineering firm. By combining John’s extensive engineering experience with the solid foundation of that business, Matthews Engineering quickly grew from just 2 workers to a team of 18.

Based out of their lifestyle block on the outskirts of town, Matthews Engineering developed into a respected name in the region, known for doing the job right the first time.

Clients trust the team not only for their technical skills, but also for their straightforward, no-nonsense way of working. It’s this combination of expertise and honesty that has kept the business growing steadily for more than two decades.
